Light and Colour II
Ann has City and Guilds Creative Embroidery Part 1 and 2 with credits, and FAETC stages 1 and 2 with distinction. She is a founder member of Dorset Textile Artists 1989, East Dorset Group of Embroiderers Workshop (EDGE), former member of EAST and founder member of O2 textiles (OTT). She has been an embroidery tutor for 15 years and a City and Guilds tutor for seven years.
She has exhibited at the Commonwealth Institute, American Museum (Bath), Harrogate, Alexandra Palace, Ramster, and all over Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon, Somerset and Cornwall. She likes her embroideries to be tactile, she loves to use felt silk papers and made fabrics. She likes to colour, decorate and hand stitch her own fabrics, and enjoys using metallic threads and beads.
Ann is still very inspired and influenced by the beautiful island of Formentera, which she has been visiting for more than thirty years.
The light and colour of the salines in particular, at different times of the day, the weather etc., the flora and fauna, all go to excite and inspire her.
She tends to work in mixed media using paper, silk, silk paper, etc., which she colours and prints. She then stitches them by hand (her current preference) or machine embroiders, before embellishing them with both handmade and purchased beads.
