02 Textiles

Sharne Gregory

Sharne has enjoyed all things creative from a very young age. Her earliest memory of using a needle was when she was five, she stitched a collage of a house for her Grandmother which hung in her sitting room for many years. All through her childhood she continued to knit, sew-clothes and toys as well as embroider. She gained all the craft badges as a Girl Guide.

She went to Chelmsford College to do City & Guilds Embroidery Foundation Course in 1989/90.

It was the death of her eldest son in December 2001 that set her on her textile journey. She went to Southend Adult Community College and gained level 3 Design and Craft (Stitched Textiles) in 2004/07. Over the years since finishing college she has attended many workshops and courses to increase her textile knowledge.

She was invited in 2009 to join F.E.T., an exhibiting group based in Cambridge, where her work has been exhibited at Sutton Hoo, Textiles in Focus, Maeldune Heritage Centre, Art Van Go, Wisbech Fenland Museum and a gallery in Bury St. Edmunds. She enjoyed being a member of this group until its demise in 2013.

She has also been involved with Chelmsford Embroiderers's Guild,  and Chelmsford Young Embroiderers'.
